Looking Up Looking Down

Project 6: Looking up looking down

I began to make maquettes of different book ideas by simply folding paper in different ways.

Cutting strips in to the maquette mant i could push these 'flaps' out to make pop ups.

It gives the book a real abstract look to it.

This idea is more simple however i decided to fold some of the corners in just to give it more of a shape.

Cutting out shapes in the pages meant that whatever was on the page behind it would be visible before turning on to that page. I really like this idea as it would make the reader want to look on the next page from being able to see a small part of it.

I experimented with triangular shapes. However it hought this could make a differece to my drawings as they have been done in my a4 sketcbook, meaning i would have to pick a certain section to be displayed.

Cutting a whole section out of the page instead of making a flap/pop up was something i wanted to try. It makes the book more querky.

This experiment is more interactive as there are flaps that have to be lifted to reveal what could possibly be underneath.

Having pop up pages within pages works interestingly and makes it easier to make the actual book instead of having to make enough pages with large paper. I could do this on both sides of the book.

I decided to make flap/pop-ups on the triangular book just to show more varieties.
