Final Major Project - Contrasted Architecture

FMP - Contrasted Architecture

Print-making is a method i found work nicely as an experiment in my project. I had been looking at street furniture, in this case, mainly lamposts (old and new) therefore used imagery of these for my printing.

Cutting out a shape/silhouette was easy to ink up and print on to surfaces. I like how i was able to show each part of my chosen object, each line was nicely obvious, showing what the object is.

I decided to work on different backgrounds to get a better idea of what worked easier/nicer and what didnt. Working on smooth backgrounds such as magazine paper showed my print much more clearer than brown paper wrap did. I even think the text on the magazine paper contributes to my print and compliments it.

Working on used envelopes is something i have recently found rather effective. The plastic see-through area worked really well for printing on to (not so well for drying). I like how the print sits really flat on both the plastic and the envelope paper.

These could work well with something layered behind them as the plastic area is see-through.

I also experimented with layering differnet prints over eachother. The print on the right (above) is my most preferred print out of the two (above). This is because i have used my own imagery and shapes from previous drawings.

My mono prints came out less effective than the silhouette prints. I like how the right (above) print of a contemporary lampost is emphasized by the white line next to it in the envelope print, this happened by accident yet works really well with the image as an overall print.

All of my prints could be used again by being photocopies and drawn over or even scanned on to a computer to use digitally.
