Project 3: Graphical Observation
The third day i found was more illustrative as we created a series of different drawings from observation. Layering image over image is very effective espeically when using different materials in different colours. The drawings were all continuous line drawings, so that we focused more on our object and less on detail.
Using different objects and more colours is something that worked well too. This time i added a third colour/media to work with.
These drawings were done by looking completely at our object as our paper was covered so we could no see our drawing developing. I think it makes the drawing look very illustrative, especially with the orange felt pen, the drawing is quite accurate to say i wasn't looking.
Drawing just the outline of an object is something that works effectively and created an interesting shape with no detail.
Task 2.
I carried on with drawing the outline of objects and layered an image over an iamge. I then used this to photocopy and i cut out both of the drawings.
I used these two cut outs to place together to then create further drawings (see below).
These new drawings then gave me a wider range of shapes.
Zooming in on the cut outs with a view finder allowed me to create larger and simpler shapes.
Layering my drawings creates new shapes.
By drawing around the edge of the view-finder my shapes became more solid.
Task 3.
I cut out my chosen shapes in different coloured materials and layed them in compositions i found interesting.
The more randomly i placed my objects the better. Negative space was something i considered whilst doing this.
I made three different collages in total which i then went on to photocopy.
The first thing i wanted to do on the photocopier was to make the collage black and white. This made me focus more on the shapes as there was no colour to focus on. Converting the collages to black and white simplified them even more
.
Using the negative to posotive effect on the photocopier created some really effective outcomes. I found that the imagry and use of black really referred them to the Bahaus.
